My name is Marissa Craig but I have gone by Spirit for several years now. I am Carmen’s niece and, much like Adam, she has been in my life since before I can even remember. Adam is my nephew – my oldest sister’s son – and I grew up around him as well. He even lived with my family for quite some time and so I have come to think of him as more of a big brother to me.
I have always loved animals but I have always tended to lean towards cats. Before I was even born my family adopted a cat, Fuzz, and I had him in my life as my absolute best friend until I was 18 when he passed. My very first tattoo was his paw prints over my heart. Animals have always been a top priority in my life that I hold near and dear to my heart, but since he passed I have come to realize how important it is to keep animals in good health; however, I knew I could never become a veterinarian with how squeamish I am.
I had no idea where the path of life was taking me for a couple years as I tried to figure out what career I wanted to join. I went to several different colleges to try different things and while spending a year at a college in Tennessee, I began working at a local humane society where I cared for 60 or more cats a day. My love for cats only blossomed after that.
Then, when I needed a job most in mid-2016, a position opened here at Feline Fabulous. I jumped on the opportunity and now am on my way to a grooming certification of my own. I believe that many if not all cats need a good thorough bath and brushing to get grease and grime off and sometimes even dangerous mats or pelts to keep them in good health. This is the best career path for me and I couldn’t be happier working with my own family. I can’t wait to have my certification and see all the opportunities this career can bring to me.
